ANSWERS TO PYTHAGORAS QUESTIONS

2005 Q4

(a) PQ = 13cm
(b) PQ is diameter so angle in semi-circle is right angle
(c) pi x 6.5 squared, sp 133 to 3 sig fig


2004 Q18

Angle is 25.8 degrees

Find PT using TOA (PT = 46 divided by tan 36)
Find TR using Pythagoras (square root of 46 squared plus 123 squared)
Find angle PRT using TOA (angle = tan -1 PT divided by TR)


2003 Q1

(a) Volume = pi x 5 squared x 12 = 942.48

(b) Max diagonal of pencil case is square root 12 squared + 10 squared which equals 15.6cm so a pencil of 14cm will easily fit in.


2002 Q7

(i) 32cm

(ii) 26 x 82 divided by 18.6 = 115cm

hi, this is moe....jus wondering..are our maths exams with the edexcel board because i just finished a paper and got a shocking grade of 60% which i beleive is quite low...get back to me as soon as possible please..
