Year 10 Coursework

Producing Scatter Diagrams on Excel

1. Enter the data enter a table
2. Highlight the two columns of data and click on the graph icon at the top of the screen.











3. Click on XY (scatter) and click on Next. Click on Next again
4. Enter a title and label the axes.











5. Click on Next once you have entered a title and labeled the axes.
6. Change “as object in” from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2 and click on Finish.

To add a trend line

7. Click within your scatter diagram and from the drop-down menu click on Chart then Add trendline.
Type is linear. Once you have selected the type, click on Options and check the Display equation on chart. The equation can be moved as required to improve presentation!

Cumulative Frequency Diagrams

Group your data into sensible class widths and remember to plot cumulative frequency at the upper class boundary.
